Tried on quickly at John Helmer in PDX. Felt very accommodating on the width, and perfect on the length. I also tried on the 11, but ultimately felt like it was just a touch narrow, especially if you end up walking in it for any amount of time.

Unfortunately, I picked the wrong size on these. Too narrow and just a touch short. Probably would have done better to get a 12D.
shrill-meadow-2907Any chance you ended up buying a 12D and can report on how it fit?
kyleUnfortunately didn't get a 12D, sorry I can't be more helpful.

Just a touch big for my taste in sandals specifically (I err on the smaller side), but still very comfy and made well, as you would expect from Birkenstock. The suede straps break down nicely over time and conform to your foot for added comfort. Would recommend these to absolutely anyone.

These are a timeless, fantastic shoe. I haven't had the leather version of the boston, so I'm interested to see how it ages. Fit on these is perfect if I'm wearing socks, and slightly long if I'm barefoot. So, make sure you take that into consideration when ordering.

Fit is great in length and width. Arch support is lacking though. Great for short walks, but nothing longer than a mile or so.
shrill-meadow-2907I have super flat feet so I'm curious if you thought there was enough volume for some low-profile orthotics.
kyleI think you'd be able to lace them slightly looser to accommodate the extra volume, and the orthotic would work just fine.

I'm reviewing the fit of these as "perfect" because I'm assuming they'll stretch. According to the Easymoc website, "Size half, to one whole size down from your favorite athletic shoe brands for a snug, tight fit, that will break in and mold to your foot with time." This is exactly what I did - sizing down 1/2 size from brannock. Currently the shoes are pretty snug on the width, and just fine on the length. As I wear them, I anticipate the width of the shoe will stretch. The shoes are very nicely finished with high quality suede and leather lining, as well as an Ortholite® Comfort Hybrid Recycled Footbed. Hand made in Maine, USA, and fully re-soleable. Will provide more of an update when I've had the chance to wear them. Update on 2/15/22: Downgrading these from "perfect" fit to slightly narrow. I've been wearing them around the house but am starting to think a size 12 would have been the better choice, especially if you're wearing socks.

These puppies are STOUT. Really impressed with the build quality, leather and heft. This is my first experience with chromexcel, and I'm quickly coming to understand why this leather has developed such a cult fanbase - incredibly robust, really rich color, and is going to patina real nice. GS has developed a reputation for punching above their weight when it comes to QC for the price point ($360), and these are no exception. Both pairs are pristine. Stitching is top tier, no nicks or scuffs on the leather. Packaging was also next level (sturdy box, shoe bags, shoe horn/bottle opener, and foam between the shoes.) Soles are the GS version of Dainite, and are well suited for the Portland weather. Fit, at first try on, appears to be perfect. Stiff, obviously. Slight heel slippage that I expect will disappear with a few wears. Ordered half size down from Brannock. Will update again when I've taken them for a spin. Update: 1/29/22 Took these on a 4 mile walk. Ouch. Lots of hot spots (heels, balls of feet and top of pinky toes). Probably should have taken it slower with the break in, but these are going to take awhile. I think my feet are also very soft after wearing nothing but crocs for 2 years...

I think these fit pretty right on. I went a half size up from brannock and that gave me just a touch extra width, which is great for longer walks as your feet swell. The length actually feels pretty good too. No complaints on sizing. The sole is stiffer than most athletic shoes these days, but I actually prefer the stability over feeling like i'm walking on a marshmallow. Update 5/22: Take these on daily walks and the fit is perfect. Incredibly comfortable, and just wide enough to accommodate foot swelling. I would definitely recommend going .5 size up if you're a 12D. Update 8/26: Holding up well so far! As I'm wearing them more and more I've come to the conclusion they're not super cushy, especially compared to many other newer running/walking shoes. But, that probably means the sole holds up longer.

Overview: These bad boys are 10 years old, purchased back in 2011 from the now shuttered Winn Perry in Portland, OR (RIP). At this point they’re a little worse for wear, but they’ve arguably been my favorite pair over the years, and they used to be a daily driver. They’ve only had 1 resole, and lot of Montana pitch blend rubbed into them. Honestly, I didn’t expect them to go this long and I’m going to try and get them in for another refurb at the Qouddy facility. Leather: I’m not entirely sure where the material is sourced from on these, but the leather has faired pretty well. Quoddy now says they use “Prime Grizzly/Peanut” - maybe one you knows? The cracks you see are from neglect, as I haven’t worn them in quite some time. The shoes now fit like a literal glove and I’ve only worn them without socks. They feel like slippers. Sole: I’m a big guy (6’5 240lbs) so soles tend to go pretty quick, and these are no exception. But, given I’ve only resoled once, I can’t complain. I don’t think the Amazonas camp sole is even used anymore and has been replaced by Vibram, which probably has better durability. Longevity: Any lightweight shoe like this that goes for 10 years speaks to the inherent quality of the materials and construction. Quoddy lives up to its reputation and I won’t hesitate to go back for a fresh pair (maybe in 5 more years :) Also, I think I paid $50 for a resole/repair of the shoe, which is a really good deal. Fit: I’m a 12D Brannock and I went down a full size at the instruction of Jordan Sayler (Winn Perry owner) because he said the leather would stretch out, and he was absolutely correct. Also, I never wear socks with these. I actually own another pair of Quoddy’s in 11.5 and they feel just a touch big from my taste. In short, I can’t recommend these enough. These fit too small if I wear socks

Purchased slightly tight at the request of the shop clerk, because he said they would stretch. They did. The sizing reported on the sole is "10 GCF", which is the Aussie size. GCF is a key for " G Width, Chiseled Toe, Flat Heel." The comfort sole on these is fantastic and I've put in many 10 mile days on these with no issues. With regards to fit, it's likely I could have gone up a half size as they are a bit snug in the width. I should have spent more time in the shop trying them on.

The best summer shoe to ever exist? I think so. First off, I wear these in a 11.5 because I don't wear socks with them. If you wanted to wear socks, I'd stay with a 12 (TTS). The jersey lining is the critical component to going sockless with these, and they don't smell as long as you give them a good airing out. I've traipsed through rivers, mown the lawn, gone on 5 mile walks, and buried these in sand. The look better the harder and longer you wear them. HIGHLY recommend picking yourself up a pair.

These boots are real beauties, unfortunately they don't fit - too big. I ordered .5 down from brannock, and that wasn't quite enough, so if you're a 12.5 on the brannock, these are the boots for you. The width was just a touch too big and I have some pretty significant heel slippage and lots of room at the toe. You'll see from the photos the natural cxl is really interesting to look at, with lots of natural "imperfections". Hopefully the pictures do them justice. These are built incredibly sturdy, and will patina very nicely over time. The right boot is slightly taller than the left boot. Purchased from 3Sixteen

These are fantastic boots. I use them for bike riding during Portland winters and tromping around in the mud. They are just a touch big, but that makes them easy to slip on and off, and there's no discomfort whatsoever. And, with thicker socks they fit perfect and keep you nice and warm. Totally waterproof!
Never been to John Helmer, would you say it's your favorite place in Portland to find GYW boots?
Definitely the best in Portland, OR.
