I have a low volume foot and narrow heel with wide-ish toes. This shoe is too narrow at the big toe, though it fits perfectly over the top of the foot with just a little bit of space left for lace closure. I can only wear it with thin socks. 10D is much too small. A larger width (10.5D) is too roomy in the instep, as is the 11D. I aim to try 11B and 11.5B in the future.

I have twenty+ other reviews on Grailed and the Higgins Mill in 11B is probably my best-fitting boot. Nice and snug, low volume, tight heel, roomy at the toes. Just perfection. Can feel too tight if worn with thicker socks, but it's great with dress socks. The instep can feel a little too tight on a hot day. Other downside is that they don't breathe well at all. If the boot had an all-leather insole instead of a foam+leather one it would feel more supportive and breathable. The heel stiffener feels a bit too rigid and arch support is mediocre. Not worth the MSRP but great on sale. Also, 10.5D is a decent fit for slightly thicker socks, I just prefer the 11B.

Excellent fit, one of my best overall. Fits quite snug, even after break-in. I cannot wear thick socks comfortably. Can become a little restrictive at the end of the day, and ultimately a larger size or width may end up being better. The 10D actually gives me a lot of heel rub when walking so they may be a tad short for my 10.5D-11C Brannock size. The shape of this last works well for natural toe-splay and I highly recommend it. 10E is an excellent fit overall with thick socks, very roomy but holds my foot perfectly well. 10.5D seems to be a perfect fit out of the box, if a bit roomy, but still working to break them in. The wedge sole may make them feel a little longer versus the commando lug sole, based on the point of toe-off.

The Diesel is absolutely one of my favorite boots. I just wish it fit. I have a low volume foot with a narrow heel & ankle and wide toes. The only way for me to get a good fit in the Diesel is to go TTS and wear super-thick socks or use a 3/4 length arch insert. This is not very comfortable as it raises the heel, putting more pressure on the forefoot. A full-length insert can work as long as it is thin and does not squish the toes too much. I finally gave up on this last and have moved onto the Brass Boot as my preferred Grant Stone footwear (more on that later). In the Leo last I have tried the following sizes: 9.5D, 9.5E, 10D, 10E, 10.5D, 11D. 10E is my best-fitting Leo size without relying on inserts. The length feels right, the volume is a little bit much but perfect with medium/thick socks. The quarters completely close around the top but that is a feature I have had to get accustomed to with my skinny runner's ankles. The only thing wrong with it is the taper of the toes, especially the big toe. I get too much pressure on the side of the big toe and it's nigh unwearable. Thankfully, the Floyd last from Grant Stone totally fixes the toe room issue and I highly recommend it!

10.5D feels a little too long but also too narrow in the toes while being loose in the heel. The heel and ankle lockdown was not near enough to be comfortable walking in. I usually can't wear chukkas anyway because of my low instep and narrow heel, but I really wish these worked for me. The Storm Kudu is phenomenal, rich, supple, and with a fantastic grain character.

I really wanted to like the Elston last. It's excellent, anatomically speaking, because it has a narrow heel and wide forefoot. This spelled disaster for my low volume D-width foot though. The 10D would have been absolute perfection if the toe taper was less drastic - the boot put a lot of pressure on the outside of the big toe even after the break-in process. Toe stiffeners don't typically seem to stretch. The 10.5D fit well in the heel but was absolutely too sloppy through the midfoot and forefoot. I am sure after break-in that the sloppiness would have lessened, but I did not want to risk it and returned my pair.

Runs bigger than I expected. Quality is decent for the price (nice suede), but the foam insole blew out in no time, leaving very little shock absorption. Also, the heel block is very heavy and throws the balance off. I added a third set of eyelets above the existing ones to compensate for the abysmal heel lockdown.

Highly recommend this boot if you can make it work. Opt for the commando lug as it is nicer than Dainite on the MP.
