Beautiful, very comfortable, and overall solid construction and materials. I use 8D in all of my Goodyear Welt Boots. I currently have: -Red Wing Iron Ranger 8111 feels great in the heel and ball of my feet. The amber harness has molded to my feet beautifully. -Wolverine 1000 Mile that feels Ok, not very impressed with the fit, in my feet anyway. I feel good heel support, roomy in the toe box but a bit tight in the vamp. -Thursday Captain and Diplomat are very comfortable and I just love the way those fit. The Captain has more of a slick design. -Red Wing Beckman 9011, beautiful boots, very comfortable even though the heel slips a little bit. Good arch support and my toes move freely. -Viberg Service boots 2030 last. I just got this boot less than a month ago, I had to go downsizing to a 7.5 (this last comes in E). These boots fit very well, a little snug but the more I use them the better they feel. I use medium-weight socks with all my boots. Sometimes I prefer to use thinner socks with my Thursday Captain as well as with my Viberg Service boots. When I picked the size for my Alden Indy 405, I had to go deep into the web... I don't have access to a store to try them on, so I researched thoroughly! After even talking to a very cool guy at the Alden San Francisco store (via phone) I decided to go with 8D. These feel good, the Truebalance last is generous at the toe box, and because I was not used to that, at the beginning it felt strange. Now, I understand that this is the main benefit of Trubalance last... these boots are comfy. I can stand up all day long, and the arch support is amazing. Could I go down a half size down? Probably. I might try a pair in 7.5 just to find peace of mind, but the size 8D is good for me. I measure 8.5 in my right foot and 9 in my left one, this is Brannock device measurements. So it makes sense using the general rule of going a half size down. Lastly, both the heel and ball of my feet are in the correct place in all of my boots. No matter the toe box space in the front of the boots or the width, the most important indicative, for me, is the heel and ball of my feet. I hope this is helpful.

Excellent fit, the Trubalance last is roomy and comfortable. The Reverse Chamois is supple but strong. No break in needed. These boots fit me better than my Alden Indy 405 in Calfskin, especially in the heel área. I think the Reverse Chamois and the 360 Goodyear Welt, somehow, makes the boot mold better to my feet. I use these boots with medium weight socks. I love this Indy make up, I look forward to get more in the future.

This is my first Alden boot with the very famous Barrie Last. I do own a few Indy with the Trubalance Last, which is amazingly comfortable. The Barrie Last in 8D fits me well. A little snug in the front, which I was not expecting due to my prior experience with the Trubalance, and the exhaustive research I did before buying in which every one said "get the same size as the Trubalance". Well, not for me. I think I could go a half size up (8.5D or 8E) for a better fit. I do wear these boots with thin socks, and they feel great. The Snuff Suede was something that concerned me a little bit. The only prior experience with "Suede" was with my Thursday Captain in WeatherSafe™, which is a completely different animal. To my suprise, the Snuff Suede is tough as it is beautiful! I couldn't be happier with this purchase. The boots are comfortable, and the leather lining, leather insole, cork mid-sole, and the combined out sole (leather-rubber) makes these boots as soft as butter, at least for me. No break in period needed. The Perforated Straight Tip Brogue Toe makes this boot a bit more versitile than my Indy, and other GW boots. I use my Alden Davis during the week for My work with a blazer, and during the weeked having a beer with friends watching the UFC 🍻. Excellent boot, as expected from Alden with that Brick + Mortar twist that I always see on their Alden make ups.

With my previous experience with the awesome 405, which fit me really good, it was easier for me to order the 403. Although they are made on the Trubalance last, the different leather upper makes a big difference in the fit, at least for me. The Chromexcel leather is much more supple than the Calfskin, and I think it does stretch a little. When I first tried the 403s on, they were a bit snug, not the same experience with my 405. In just one wear, they already started to soften, and the leather started to show some creasing on the vamp area. Don't get wrong, they look great, but the truth is that the Calfskin seems tougher. This Chromexcel molds really good to my feet, and in general, I think they are more comfortable than the 405. The heel and arch support is the best, and the roomy toe box is perfect for my feet. I didn't think there was going to be much difference in the fit from both 405 and 403, but the truth is there is. I attribute this to the upper leather. It would be great to learn from your experience, do you own different Indy boots? Do you notes a difference in the fit? I will post another review about my new Shell Cordovan Indy boots... Until then, adiós.

As usual with the Alden Indy, very comfortable boot. The Trubalance last offers the best heel and arch support while giving enough espace in the toe box for my toes to move freely. Now, the BIG difference here is the upper material. Horween Color 8 Shell Cordovan is the most beautiful, tough and resilient "leathers" I've ever experienced. The fit is perfect, not only because of the Trubalance last, but the Shell Cordovan wrap my feet in such a good way that I could use these boots all day long in a great level of comfort. I have learned that Shell Cordovan is very versatile, durable, and easy to care for. When I first got these boots, I didn't even wanted to use them. They looked so beautiful and prestine, I was afraid to ruine them, silly... I know. But now, man do I rock these boots! And the patina I am getting is like no other, maybe due to the way Shell Cordovan rolls instead of creasing, I don't know... Is just gorgeous. Something interesting about this iteration of he Indy by Brogue, is the leather sole. This feature offers an really flexible and comfortable walking experience. I don't live in a wet palce, so slipping is not a concern I have, si I am fully enjoying the full leather components of this boot. I can say with confidence that the Alden x Brogue Arai Indy Boot is one of the best versions of this classic heritage footwear.

Perfect construction, I can't find any blemishes or mistakes in these boots. Grant Stone is one of the most carefully made footwear that I've every had. Truly amazing. The boots feel snug and secure. Maybe a little preasure in the instep that concerns me, but otherwise they feel good. The heel and arch support is great, the room at the toe box is enough to wiggle my toes just a bit. The ball of my feet flex in the right position. Comparing this to my Alden Indy in the same size, I'd say the Indy give me more room and comfort. I think that for my next Diesel boots I'll go either half size up or move to an E width in the same size. Oh, something to notice is The packaging and unboxing experience. It was from another world. I did not expect this exquisite details inside that box, from the smell, to the boot bags, laces and even the material of the box it self... Not even Viberg have me this experience. High end.

I am very impresed with the construction of these boots. They are beautifully crafted, and the natural CMX is just a patina machine. I went with the recommendation from OSB, and got a pair True to Size. I found a prestine pair on Ebay in 8.5, which is half size up from muy other Goodyear Welt boots, so I pulled the trigger. I found the Elston last really comfortable. My ankle and heel feel very well supported and the toe box is roomy. The volume of my right foot always gives me some trouble, and on these boots it is no exception. For some reason I feel the top of he captoe pushing down my toes, the length si perfect, I just feel this preasure in my right foot #myweirdfootshape. I am hoping they CMX stretches a bit on the sides. Just by using thinner socks is enough to enjoy them all day long. One minor issue though was in the footbed of both boots. They just came loose enough that I can take them out as if they were removable, which they are not. Not a big deal. The laces are long and I love the quality and thickness they are made in, just gorgeous. I really like my boots, and I am looking forward to get a beautiful patina on them.

Just one small stitching mistake in the triple stitch row, but nothing to worry about. In the end, this is a handmade product, so I think it adds character to the boots. I had the opportunity to try the rough and tough IR, and let me tell you, the Amber Harness 8111 was a very different experience for me. The 8 last is perfect for my feet. The Beckman has a round toe box that is both, roomy and classic. I can easy dress these boots up with a blazer or use them as a weekender. During the first few wears, I felt a little slip in the heel, this gradualy desapeared once the soles broke in. Now, they feel very nice and secured, just like my Iron Ranger. The Featherstone leather is supple and beautiful, and the burgundy color is unique. I might get another pair in black because I love so much the fit.

One of the most comfortable boots I own. The Dark Olive WeatherSafe™ Suede is soft to wear and very tough for the daly challenges of my working day. I have to stand up most of my day, so the Captain boots represent a relief for my feet. The studded rubber outsoles work very nice in the streets and the classroom. The cork-bed Midsoles formed nicely to my feet, and the Poron Antimicrobial Shock Absorbing Insoles offered no break in period whatsoever. This last component of the boots is probably the most critized by heritage boots purists, but man let me tell you that when I am walking and standing the while day, I sure appreciate the cushiness of this synthetic material 😅. These boots also come with a supple glove leather interior that gives a redined feel to it. Overall, excellent boot for the price point. In fact, I think you get a very nice heritage, well made, beautiful and comfortable boot for less than $200, it's a no brainer. If this is important to you, at least for me it is, these boots are made with integrity in México, in a factory that cares for their workers, use premium leathers and take the environment into account. I had a QC issue with my first order. The customer service team responded inmediateley, no questions asked. They sent me a new pair in perfect condition. This is important, because I am buying from an online, direct to consumer company, and I need to be sure they have my back, which they do. Since the first Captain, I have got a pair of Diplomats, and two other boots for my wife. We are very happy.

UPDATE - SEPT 12, 2022 I have been wearing the hell out of these boots, and let me tell you... The keep up their promise. The rugged and resilient leather is extremely tough, I have taken my Diplomats to the wild, through rivers and rain. As I am writing this update, I am doing so from the beautiful mountains of Panamá, in Boquete. These boots are getting better with wear! I do not take care of this particular boot, and from what I can see they don't need much. Again, the leather is tough. I dropped a couple of pictures from today, including one of my wife's Diplomat with a beautiful visitor. 😉

Quite an experience these boots are! From the in-store customer service to the quality of the built, Trickers boots are just impressive. The 4497S last is roomy and very comfortable. The Acorn Calf Leather is supple but tough, and it conformed to my feet in just a few wears. Something to be aware of is the sizing. My US Brannock devices puts me between 8.5 and 9 D (depending on which foot I measure), but when I got measured in the London store, I got a size 8 in the UK Brannock device (it's like a US 9D), so the gentelman at the store recommended UK 7.5, which is an 8.5 in Goodyear welt boots. 😅 The boots feel good. I am getting a little pinching on my right foot pinky, but for the most part I don't think I'd size up. Long wise they are perfect, and my heel and arch are very well supported. I did not need a breaking in period, eventhough the calf leather is tough. I think the Dainite soles helped a little with this. At first I was hesitant to decide between the Doble Leather and Dainite soles, they are both awesome. The doble leather so just gorgeous, but I already have a couple of boots with leather soles, and only one with Dainite, so I went with these ones. I don't regret it at all. Maybe next time, I get the doble leather soles. Overall, and excellent choice. Trickers are a perfectly built boot, with heritage methods of construction, and a timeless look that makes these one of my top three prefered footwear of all times.

I have the Truman Rambler in two leathers, both beautiful, but in different sizes. The Smoke Rambler, which I'll be posting a review as well soon, I bought them in 8D. This Coach Rambler I got them in 8.5D, and now I am 100% certain, this is my right size. I measure 8.5D in my right foot, and a 9D in the left one (very anoying if You ask me). Depending on the last, I would go half size or a full size down. The 79 last from Truman fit me perfectly in 8.5, especially in the toe box. I wear 8D in Red Wing Iron Ranger, which in my twisted mind looked very similar to the Truman Coach Rambler (last wise). But I couldn't be more wrong. The IR fit me really well in 8D. The leather is the real protagonist here. This CF Stead Rambler leather is something very especial. Is supple but very very tough. It shows signs of the veins and scars of the animal, and it just looks and feels amazing. The commando sole is tough, and combined with the leather mid sole and the flat welt, it offers just a little resistance when walking. I did not need a long and painful breaking in period, I think the upper leather helped on this matter. The unsteuctured toe box offers plenty of room and it is forgiving in every stride. Overall, an outstanding boot.

Solid construction. Very comfy. E width, which means I had to go a half size down from my usual boot size (8D). Actually, these are the only boots that I had the opportunity to try in the store, cool experience. The Chromexcel is a beautiful, supple pull-up leather that molds to my feet in a very good way. Interestingly, this Chromexcel feels better than the one in my Wolverine 1000 Mile, it feels more robust and just higher quality. A couple of things to point out. On the right boot, the last stitch at the end of the stitch down is missing, go figure. Also, my boots did not include the hide laces, I had to buy those... not happy about it. Overall, amazing boots. Take into account 2030 last in the Service boot comes in E width, for me, this implied going down a half size from my already adjusted 8D, this in comparison to the Brannock size. Cheers!
