The no. 8 last seems to fit really well for my wide foot. I usually buy a size 12 (euro 45-46) in sneakers so I was dubious as to whether a size 11 would fit. There was virtually no break-in because the size was so well calibrated. FYI, they measured me on their "Volumental" machine which was very comprehensive.

The fit and finish of these are best described as "built like tanks". I would imagine that if you didn't get the right fit, you would have a bugger of a break-in time. I did get the perfect size, so break-in was virtually non-existent. I wore them without the provided insert at first, then added them after the leather broke in and began to feel a little more roomy. They now feel like sneakers. They are very casual. I have worn them with chinos to work, but they pair best with jeans. If you get the right size, you'll be happier in these boots than sneakers. Bold thing to say...yes, but I'll stand by it.

I bought these because I thought they were desperately pretty in the slate gray color. I have a wide foot (11EE) and they didn't offer wide sizes in this model, so the sales representative suggested that I size up a half step (11.5) and buy the "D" width. They were a bit narrow, but acceptably so. Because of this, paired with the very thick leather of the boot, there was a bit of a break-in period (not horrible, though). My other Red Wings were my correct size break in was almost non-existent. If you can find your perfect size and width, it would mitigate the break in much better. I HAD to have that color, so I put up with the 2 or 3 wears that it took to break them in. FYI the half size up trick works much better with boots constructed on the No. 8 last from Red Wing. Good luck and BOOT UP!

These aren't made any more for the US market and can only be found over seas (as far as I know) so I snagged these on Ebay for a song. They were really dry and a little neglected so I worked my magic on them and brought them back to almost new color. I usually wear an 11 EE in the RR 8 last, so I bought them a half size up for the D width. They fit perfect. I can't comment on break-in because they were used, but I've got to say, they feel just as comfy as a pair of 11 EE's. So now I can confidently say that 11.5 D's will work well on someone that will fit a Red Wing 11 EE. Great news because not all models come in wide sizes.

I got these from Mercari in "Like New" (excellent) condition. The leather is hopelessly cool and patina's beautifully. I usually wear a 12 in sneakers but an 11EE in this last. They were a great deal, so I took the plunge and gave them a try. THEY FIT! They have more room in the toe box (length) than my other Iron Rangers that are an 11 EE, but after a couple of months of wears in rotation with other boots, they fit very well and give no problems after a full 8 hour work day on feet. Disclaimer, I do wear them with a comfort insole for a little extra cushion and not out of necessity with no negative effect on fit.
