Decent fit and break in wasn't too bad. I originally ordered 12.5D, which is 1/2 down for me, but the after getting a call from the retailer, I followed their guidance and changed to a 12D. They are fairly roomy at a full size down. Very comfortable with medium or thicker weight socks. After a few brief wears inside, I noted a cut in the leather near an eyelet, obviously from a knife blade. Retailer and Alden rep were both rather dismissive. The cut has not been a structural issue and hasn't worsened. I also noted one heel has a flat spot from being poorly ground to shape. After about 2 months, the binding at the bottom of the quarter, near the vamp and bottom eyelet, started coming apart where the stitching is coming out. Now, At 10 months, the lug sole is separating from the midsole in several spots. I've worn these for light work/projects, hiking & camping, and sometimes just a casual boot for running around town. This was my second pair of "quality" footwear. I was disappointed in the QC and customer service. In essence, I was sold a factory second at full price. I di like the boots, and the fit is pretty good. QC and customer service were unacceptable, given the price.

Great fit. Bought second hand, new without box. Primarily a casual dress boot for me. Very comfortable and minimal break in struggles. The eyelets are VERY sharp & jagged on the inside, causing cuts on laces. Sorted with a brass punch and hand file.

The foot scanner at the store suggested a 13D, but it was just too loose. 12D fit well but the only boot available in that size was the display. Tried on 11.5EE and the fit was decent, but the width made the heel somewhat sloppy. This improved with wear, but still fits best with an insole & heel cup.
