Pricey, but I think they are worth it. I just got them, but I love CXL leather, and the clicking on mine (so far) seems to be done excellently. We will see in about 6 months if I win the “CLX Lottery”. Also, I read about people with concerns that AE was having quality issues. When i got mine, I found exactly 1 stray thread I was able to burn off. That was it. I got sized in the store to ensure a good fit. The guy fitting me called it a “10.2 E”. He advised that AE runs large and had me try on 9.5E and they fit perfectly. Break in wasn’t bad. I could wear them on day 1 for several hours before swapping out. After a few more wears, I’m good with them all day now. Nothing like breaking in my Iron Rangers.

I saw these when I went to buy my Higgins Mill boots. Fell in love with the leather and I’ve always been a big fan of 5 inch ankle boots. So 2 weeks after buying my HMs, I went back and bought these. My best size for AE is 9.5E, but they didn’t have them in store at that size (and I’m impatient), so I picked them up in 10D. Slightly snug, but already molding to my feet, they fit almost as good as my 9.5E HMs. My only pair of Kudu leather, but it is amazing. Super soft so it molds to your foot easily. Fully broken in after 4 or 5 wears.

My only pair of Helm, was told to go true to size for regular width feet. Picked them up at Nordstroms. When there, I was measured at between and 10 10.5E, so to compensate, I picked up the 10.5 in medium width. Slightly large on my feet, but with medium to thick socks, they fit just fine. Helm calls this Neymar leather and it has to be some of the softest, most supple leather I’ve ever felt on a boot or shoe. It almost feels like glove leather used on a shoe. The insole is thickly padded with Poron and covered in the same leather the boot is lined with, making it sneaker comfortable right out of the box. Zero break in needed. If you like Chukka boots, especially ones with a slightly more dressy/casual aesthetic, I recommend giving these a try… if you’re good with their signature white midsole.

Snug fit for my 10E feet, but after break in, they feel much better, even with thicker socks. This is one of my favorite leathers, but it is stiff and all the rumors about Iron Rangers having brutal break in periods are true. I don’t wear them frequently due to working from home and having a larger rotation, so I’m still “breaking them in” 5 months later. Maybe a dozen wears at most and only for a few hours. Despite that, I love them and know they will only get better with age

Roomy feel, but not oversized with the removable RW insole. I wear 9.5D or a 9EE in Iron Rangers, but these at 10D (with the insole) fit just fine. If I take the insole out, my feet swim in them. Zero break in, sneaker comfortable, and the unlined CRT leather breathes really well in the summer months.

Narrow last, but with thin dress socks this is perfect. I am in between 10 and 10.5E, and this model doesn’t come in wider widths, so I followed Thursday’s recommendation and went with a 10 regular. It is a dressier last, so it is narrow, so if your E width or wider, reach out to Thursday about sizing. I love buffalo leather, and these feel great. For the price, you can’t get a better dressy 5 inch ankle boot. Typical Thursday, comfortable out of the box with little to no break in.

Comfortable out of the box, but narrow for my feet. No wide widths available on this model. I’m in between a 10 and 10.5E on the US Brannock. On other Thursday models, I wear a 10 regular with no problems. Because this uses a more narrow last than other Thursday offerings, it is very snug at the ball of my feet. Thin socks only. Beyond that, the suede feels great and is definitely “weather safe” with no water or weatherproofing sprays needed. The Poron and leather insole allowed me to spend all day in them on the first day. Also, surprisingly for a Chelsea, no heel slip either. Would be perfect if Thursday made them in wider sizes.

I love these boots. It is build on their Encore last that provides a slightly wider toe box. I have E width feet, so the regular size finally fits me with thicker socks without squeezing my feet.
