The Higgins is the look and fit I compare all others to. I have the Burgandy Chrome excel and a pair in Burgandy Shell. QC is great on the Shell thank God but the Chrome Excell kind of lousy.

Fit is perfect, very little break-in necessary, there is a leather lining which helped a bit too.

Fit is acceptable for sure. The tor box is generous and cavernous but still holds my foot in place. It is a touch tight in the vamp area. It is also a touch long in my opinion. As such I think an 8.5E would have fit slightly better fit than the 9D. There was just EEE or D at the time and I didn't want to go EEE. Break in was very minimal. And they were pretty soft and comfy from the get go

Pricey, but I think they are worth it. I just got them, but I love CXL leather, and the clicking on mine (so far) seems to be done excellently. We will see in about 6 months if I win the “CLX Lottery”. Also, I read about people with concerns that AE was having quality issues. When i got mine, I found exactly 1 stray thread I was able to burn off. That was it. I got sized in the store to ensure a good fit. The guy fitting me called it a “10.2 E”. He advised that AE runs large and had me try on 9.5E and they fit perfectly. Break in wasn’t bad. I could wear them on day 1 for several hours before swapping out. After a few more wears, I’m good with them all day now. Nothing like breaking in my Iron Rangers.

I have twenty+ other reviews on Grailed and the Higgins Mill in 11B is probably my best-fitting boot. Nice and snug, low volume, tight heel, roomy at the toes. Just perfection. Can feel too tight if worn with thicker socks, but it's great with dress socks. The instep can feel a little too tight on a hot day. Other downside is that they don't breathe well at all. If the boot had an all-leather insole instead of a foam+leather one it would feel more supportive and breathable. The heel stiffener feels a bit too rigid and arch support is mediocre. Not worth the MSRP but great on sale. Also, 10.5D is a decent fit for slightly thicker socks, I just prefer the 11B.

Fits well and is very comfortable. Only thing more comfortable is something with an arch like a Whites MP Sherman or Viberg 2030.

Higgins Mill Weatherproof Boot with Chromexcel Leather - Color 4294 Brown.

The fit is excellent on my right foot, but my left foot is tight due to my bunion. It's taken my left foot quite a few wears to break in to be truly comfortable. With the creasing during walking, I do get some rubbing on the top of my feet/toes. Most of the time this isn't an issue, but sometimes, it can get a little uncomfortable

Tumbled Brown
11/2019
First boot I encountered that fit my feet perfectly. Zero discomfort during initial wear as the tumbled leather is supple and the footbed quickly molded to my feet. Like many here I have "combination" feet - wider, flatter left foot that flares a bit at the ball and a relatively normal right foot. The 1757 last from AE handles them well - If only all my boots could fit this well! The tumbled leather creases readily, giving a "loose grain" look which some might not like. And the unlined tongue is a bit of a nuisance as it tends to wander about while wearing. But none of that matters when I put them on because they fit so well.

The guys at our local shop talked me into these, and they're too big. With two pairs of socks the fit is good, but that's a pain to do. The break is at least a half an inch past the ball of my foot and it drives me nuts. Because they upset me, I wear the heck out of them and use them as motorcycle boots, which they work well for. I replaced the laces with contrasting yellow hiking boot laces when the flat ones gave out after a year. Still, good boots, just not the right fit, hence the addition of a pair in 11D to my collection!
