"The Floyd last fits half a size full in length and width, same as the Leo. Most customers will go down half a size from their average sneaker or dress shoe size (Brannock), wearing the same size as most of their GYW boots.
Although the toe box has higher walls creating more volume, we suggest the same size as your Leo last.
Additional widths are offered, including E & EEE. The wider widths increase volume in the instep and ball area.
When moving into a EEE, remember to go down in size. For example, someone who measures 10.5 on a Brannock may wear the following sizes comfortably. Note, length is added when grading E and EEE widths.

My grail boot! The Grantstone Floyd last is certainly more generous fitting in the vamp because the toe box has raised walls giving plenty of breathing room in the forefoot. It's so generous I could have gone down to a size 8E since Shell Cordovan seems larger from the onset due to the shell not stretching back down after lasting, which is why many guys perceive their shell footwear to feel larger than their Chromexcel counterparts.

The fit well, plenty of toe box room, maybe a hair long but not enough to go down a half size. Didn't take long to fully break in, seems the insole is softer, maybe not oak tanned (color appears white) but plenty of thickness, but not in a bad way. This boot has been comfortable out of the box, break in Didn't hurt for weeks like others and the generous toe box helps. The sole does add considerable weight. Not sure if the kiltie helped or hurt with break in as they were worn from the start. I use them around the office and house as a light duty work boot on concrete. They will be used and not babies, and I expect to hold up fine from what I have seen. Out of the box the natural Chromexcel was treated with a light coat of Obanaufs as an initial treatment, from here on it will get Bick 4 to keep the color lighter. As others have said, the construction is top notch...I cannot find a single stitch out of place, or a piece of leather minutely miscut...they are literally perfect and I would not hesitate to recommend Grant Stone because of this experience. These are the best value in well made boots.

I have wide (E-EE), short heel to toe with .5 (right foot ) & 1.5 (left foot) size longer arch length on brannock device, high arch and instep volume, and Morton's Toe. I fit best with the longer arch length and wider of heel to toe so 8.5E /EE or 9E/EE for athletic shoes. Toe box and vamp width a little loose with medium socks. Plenty of volume for toe box and vamp. I can fix instep volume with lacing. Snug forefoot fit (toes & ball of foot) with thick socks. Heel width still has a little wiggle room but no heel slip. Even though I prefer a roomier fit, these fit just a little long, wide, and loose for me. So I would size down to 7.5E.

The Floyd last is just as comfortable, if not more comfortable than the Leo last, for my duck foot. The extra room in the heightened toe box feels great. I wish the outsole were more comfortable for sidewalks, but the wedge sole did not look as nice to me as this black lug sole. These Brass boots get complimented more than my Stone Kudus, due to the mock stitching. I love the fit and appreciate the high-quality build at a reasonable price.

I use them almost every day , the break in was pretty easy , for me I have a heigh instep so the top of my foot would sometimes rub , but very minimal discomfort. I regularly walk on muddy areas . And after a quick spray water and letting them rest/dry , all I do is condition with neetsfood oil .

Grant Stone does not mess around. This is my third Grant Stone boot and I'm probably not stopping at that. The leather is Horween Chromexcel, so you know it's good, stitching and overall construction is faultless, as far as meets the eye. The Brass bott is a really roomy, comfortable boot. My only gripe with it might be that it feels a bit too roomy. 11,5EEE is my normal go-to, and my first Grant Stone boots were the Cap Toe model in that size. It was large enough that I went down a half-size when getting the Brass boot. These are still large enough and then some. I wouldn't call them too big, though. I think that if Grant Stone did a Brass bott in 11EE that would likely be my perfect size.

I like the way the boot looks, but no so happy with the way they fit. Length of the boot feels perfect. Width is a tad snug, but not so bad the boot can't be worn. There are three issues; however, I have with these boots and two are with the heel. The heel fits very loose, my foot slips, and after walking for a bit blisters begin to appear. The other issue I have with the heel is that it feels like the top of the heel counter is digging into my foot, this is much more noticeable with the right boot. When I run my fingers across the inside of the boot it feels perfectly smooth, so I don't understand why it is so irritating on my foot. The final issue I have with these boots is hot spots on my arches from them. I’m assuming this is being caused by the heel slippage – pulling the laces tighter doesn’t help. Primarily because of the heel issues, I find that I don’t wear these boots as often as I would like. They are good for quick trip to the store or a day of sitting in the office. Overall, mostly disappointed with the boot. I’ve been wearing them since January 2022 hoping the experience will get better, but so far, they just aren’t there.

Socks: Midweight merino wool Misc. Notes: Higher volume right foot Not broken in yet I had originally ordered these in 6E, back when I was going off my Red Wing Volumental size (6.1EE) which only accounted for heel-to-toe length. This was after I'd ordered my first pair of Diesel in 6E which I unfortunately found to be too tight on my right instep. I was hoping this roomier last would ease that problem. It did, but not enough, and the lack of heel slip made me wary, as usually that indicates that the boot is too small. So I exchanged for a 6.5E. It's a good fit, better than my Diesels in the same size -- it swung me back around to thinking that 6.5E is a decent alternative to 7D. There's much more space on the top of the foot and in the toes. I've heard talk about how heavy this boot tends to be but I don't really notice while I'm wearing it. It's certainly very tough, good for moderate housework or hiking. Definitely casual -- despite the dressier silhouette, I would not even try to dress these up like I might for the black or color 8 Brass Boots. That's a bit of a surprise coming from Grant Stone, but I actually like it more that way. As far as comfort goes, the Brass Boot is pretty comfortable. The suppleness of the reverse kudu helps, I think -- I suspect there won't be much of a break in. And the quality of the boot is stunning given the price. I've gotten boots that cost the same or more and very few match the attention to detail and near-flawless construction.

This was my first purchase of quality handcrafted boots. The Grant Stone Boots far exceed the price point in quality. They made beautiful boots and deliver boots that arrive to the customer in excellent condition. There were no loose threads or nicks in the leather. The Brass Boots came with 2 pairs of waxed boot laces; however, I think this hardy boot looks best with leather laces. Being a person of small stature at 5ft 3in tall and slender, the boots felt extremely clunky on my feet. The Brass Boots are very roomy in the toe box and have high walls that easily accommodated my prescription orthotics. There were no tight areas or rubbing in any areas. Maybe I should have sized down to a 6 EEE in order to have better control of the boots while walking in a normal gait. On the other hand, they may have been too small. I didn't hold on to them long enough to determine whether I would ultimately get comfortable with the weight of the boots and come to love them. Aesthetically, I love the Brass Boots with the Commando Soles. They are just too heavy.

It’s a large and roomy shoe for sure. I ordered the 7.5EEE and the ottowa boot in 8EEE and both were uncomfortably small feeling. The 8EEE brass boot is super roomy but playing with thickness of socks helps me find the best fit

Just tried on so far, but I am an 11.5 brannock with bony feet and skinny ankles, so this fits very well for me in midweight socks. It cradles the heel and forefoot without being snug. I can also lace them tightly and not feel like circulation is being cut off.

Jungle Kangaroo. Fit like a glove out of the box, no real break-period. I reached out to them about sizing and they initially recommended that I go with an 8 due to the difficulty of my redwing IRs in 7.5. The Brass Boot in 8 clearly too large. The 7.5 were perfect.

Excellent fit, one of my best overall. Fits quite snug, even after break-in. I cannot wear thick socks comfortably. Can become a little restrictive at the end of the day, and ultimately a larger size or width may end up being better. The 10D actually gives me a lot of heel rub when walking so they may be a tad short for my 10.5D-11C Brannock size. The shape of this last works well for natural toe-splay and I highly recommend it. 10E is an excellent fit overall with thick socks, very roomy but holds my foot perfectly well. 10.5D seems to be a perfect fit out of the box, if a bit roomy, but still working to break them in. The wedge sole may make them feel a little longer versus the commando lug sole, based on the point of toe-off.

If I could do this over I’d buy 11’s. I sized down pretty aggressively due to my narrow fit and the Floyd last’s notoriety for width. It’s a bit short on my longer left foot but the fit isn’t bad for an office setting. Might be annoying if I was doing real work.

Bought this pair in Crimson CXL. Because of a bunion in my right foot, I ordered the E width and its really voluminous. Theres alot of of vertical space in the forefoot and with thinner socks my foot does move around a little bit.

Due to the stiffness of the leather in the mid and outsole, the boot felt a bit long at first since it didn't bend very easily at the forefoot, especially combined with how much volume there is in the forefoot in an E width. I am happy with it though since I wear it mostly in the winter and it fits perfectly with thicker socks.
