Leo LAST

The Leo last fits half a size full in length and width. Most customers will go down half a size from their average sneaker or dress shoe size (Brannock), wearing the same size as most of their GYW boots.
Additional widths are offered, including E & EEE. The wider widths increase volume in the instep and ball area.
When moving into a EEE, remember to go down in size. For example, someone who measures 10.5 on a Brannock may wear the following sizes comfortably. Note, length is added when grading E and EEE widths.

I’ve tried grant stone 10.5E up to 11E because my brannock size is an 11E and I have a high instep so assumed I needed a wider shoe/boot. The 10.E was still tight on my instep but the 11E was too big (except for the loafers, which I have to go to the 11E because of the instep). When I just happened to order the 11D on a whim I found my perfect fit. Yes, they say an 11D is “equivalent” to a 10.5E but I’ve found there is a slight difference. For their boots and derbys I’m an 11D, but for loafers an 11E.

For me, the length and width are perfect, but the shoe is a bit “shallow”. The heel cup sits low on my ankle, and using only thin dress socks or barefoot, the instep is tight, but still comfortable. In general, I find the instep on Grant Stone shoes/boots to be a little more snug than on some other brands, at least on the Alexander and Leo lasts.

Perfect fit straight out of the box; don't think I've ever slipped my foot into something and immediately felt it was great. Quite stiff out of the box so it required some break-in, but the pattern is more forgiving on my wide in-step compared to the Diesel boot pattern due to no gussetting.
