A bit big, maybe, but I can't see a smaller size working well

Width is fine, length is a little snug, toes are almost at the end. These are a wide shoe, I did have a half size up, 8UK, which were good in length, but too wide and voluminous, the quarters were touching when laced and on my right foot may have over lapped when broken in..... so went down to 7.5uk, much better fit, feel solid, great construction, wonderfully comfortable with all day wear

I got a used pair made for END shops in the UK and Canada. Espresso pebble grain leather with a double leather sole. CHUNKY.

A UK 9.5 should fit a US 10.5, from my understanding, but this shoe is narrow enough to give me occasional pain in my slightly larger right foot, to hug my left foot, and it's short enough that they don't quite break in the right spot, resulting in a stiff feel. They feel like clogs. The double leather sole is also very stout, and won't flex without a fight. I still wear them, as they look amazing, and don't cause me any blisters. I am still hoping to stretch them to fit, and to flex those soles until they feel better. (LOL it may never happen.)

The conventional wisdom is that you should size down from your 4497S size by one half step as it’s a more voluminous last but I found that Size 9 was tight and painful. Size 9.5-5 fits me well. Very comfortable in the toe box but has a slight amount of heel slip.
